Highlights

Chengdu Panda Base: The giant pandas are not only a Chinese national treasure but are also beloved by people the world over. They are found only in Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu provinces. In total there are fewer than 2,000, of which 70% are distributed within the territory of Sichuan Province. Therefore, when visitors from home and abroad come to Chengdu, Sichuan, one of their main objectives will be to see this lovely animal for themselves.

Leshan Giant Buddha is largest and tallest stone-carved Buddha in the world. It is 71 meters (about 233 feet) high, and has 8.3-meter-long (about 27 feet) fingers. The 9-meter-wide (about 30 feet) instep is big enough for one hundred people to sit on and the 24-meter-wide (about 79 feet) shoulder is large enough to be a basketball playground.

It was built between 713 and 803 in China’s Tang dynasty, people spent more than 90 years to carve it. It is a sitting stone statue of Maitreya carved on a cliff at the confluence of three rivers, namely, Min River, Qingyi River, and Dadu River, near Leshan City, Sichuan Province. The stone Buddha faces Mount Emei, with rivers flowing below its feet.

Leshan Giant Buddha and Mount Emei, have been listed as the UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1996.

Leshan Food: The hot & spicy cuisine flavor in Leshan matches other places in Sichuan Province and enjoys the fame of ‘The Kingdom of Cooking’. There are many kinds of dishes and local snacks that arouse a desire to eat!
