Mount Siguniang: Hiking the Four Sisters of Sichuan

Mount Siguniang (“Four Sisters Mountain”) is a 6,250m peak surrounded by three sister summits in western Sichuan’s Qianghai-Tibetan plateau fringe. Its nickname — the “Alps of Sichuan” — is well earned.

Three valleys, three experiences

  • Shuangqiaogou — easiest, accessed by shuttle bus; great for lakes and meadows.
  • Changpinggou — moderate hikes to alpine pastures and the base of the peaks.
  • Haizigou — for serious trekkers heading toward the climbing routes.

Best season

April–June and September–October are ideal — wildflowers or clear autumn skies. Winter is stunning but very cold; July–August is rainy with some road closures.

Getting there

About 4h by car from Chengdu via the beautiful Balang Mountain pass. Stay in Rilong town at the entrance for guesthouses and gear rental.
